The Low Vision Rehabilitation Service provides low vision care to help adults and children cope with the effects of conditions such as macular degeneration, albinism, retinitis pigmentosa and optic atrophy among others that result in limited vision. We individualize our testing and recommendations based on each patient’s specific issues and goals. Often the focus is on greater independence with reading, computer use, writing, driving, household activities, job performance, or dealing with glare.

We are experienced in prescribing a wide range of technologies, including:

  • strong reading glasses
  • well-lighted magnifiers of all powers
  • electronic magnification systems
  • hand-held telescopes
  • telescope glasses
  • prism systems for peripheral awareness
  • tinted lenses

We are also experienced in advising people on options for driving, education, vocational rehabilitation, qualifying for disability services, and other topics related to living with impaired vision.
